Israeli Businessmen Jump on the Bulgarian Property Wagon

Israeli businessmen are to invest millions of Bulgarian Levs in a massive complex in the Razlog area, just a few miles from Bansko.

Here’ the full story:

Israelis will built the largest tourist complex and villa settlement in the Southwest of Bulgaria valued at 100 million euro. The Israeli company “Asim Investment Group” has started the grand project in the areas of Katarino and Golak, located on the territory of Razlog city. The complex will be named “Rila Ville Village” and will be constructed on a 150 decares of terrain. The start of the construction works is scheduled for February 2008 and will be completed in 5 years.

The property was bought on 31 October 2006 on a tender for the sum 6 008 388 BGN. The property is owned by the Municipality and has been given to the Municipality by the Ministry of Defense. In the “Golak” area the Israelis have bought 82 566 sq.m. and in Katarnio area – 66 084 sq.m. Three zones will be differentiated on the terrain: hotel zone with sports center, central part for public service and zone for apartment buildings. The complex will include a total of 1 000 apartments, trade- and entertainment areas.

Last week the investors organized a road show in the area where the site is to be constructed. Zvika Karmi stated that the complex will also have a child center, sport playgrounds, indoor swimming pool and a great number of other extras. The president of the Razlog Municipal Council – Radko Tumbev – told the investors that the municipality’s policy was to promote the tourism and added that in Razlog one could find all the natural resources needed to implement grand-scale projects.

All investment in Bansko and the surrounding areas is certainly welcome.

Bulgarian Furniture Can Be Bought Elsewhere for a Better Deal

I had been dealing with my Furniture company in Bulgaria for the past couple of weeks trying to get a good price for the package that I need to rig out my Bansko apartment for rental.

Today I received a revised offer and only after close inspection I realised that the prices had not been revised. The company, which I will name in a later post, had simply removed some of the items from the package.

If you are buying a furniture pack in Bulgaria you should definitely shop around. There are loads of companies that can be sourced online. Just do a Google search and you will find them. Don’t settle for the first offer!

You need to be very careful. As I see it, some of the furniture companies are trying to charge U.K prices for Bulgarian items. What’s going on here? It seems that the profits they are already accumulating is just not enough!

DO NOT sign any contracts for your furniture until you have scrutinised the offer. Are all items listed? Is the material the same as promised? You may think you are getting a good deal but the beds, cupboards, tables and sofas may be made with inferior material.

Unfortunately a fitted kitchen was not supplied when I purchased my apartment but some companies do supply the kitchen with your appt. If so it should be listed in your preliminary contract.

I will keep you posted on how I progress and the best deal that eventually find.

Rigging Out Your Apartment in Bulgaria

My appt. in Bansko, Bulgaria is almost complete and I am in negotiation with different furniture companies for furnishing supplies.

I have purchased a 3 bedroom apartment and need to have it completely fitted out with everything required if I plan to rent it out to Bansko skiers.

Some of the companies, which I will name in later posts, are clearly over-priced. I believe they are charging U.K prices for Bulgarian furniture. The scary thing is that many apartment owners will fork out big money for furniture that they can buy for half the price if they only do a little searching online.

For instance, I have found a company that will furnish my apartment in Bansko for 4000 Euros less than a price I was given by another. There is some serious attempts to con U.K and Irish buyers into paying through the nose.

If you’re daft enough to pay then the furniture companies will certainly take your money.

My plan is to source the best and most affordable furniture package I can find and post the results on this blog.
